Did You Know?
Common Denture Facts
Here are some common facts about dentures brought to you by Drayton Valley Denture Clinic

Loose dentures can lead to painful sore spots and bone shrinkage due to the constant friction and pressure they place on the gum tissues and underlying bone.
To maintain their shape, keep your dentures from drying out. Always store them in water or a denture cleaning solution when not in use to prevent dehydration and warping.
Make sure to clean your dentures daily, both inside and out, using a soft, large nylon denture brush. Avoid regular toothpaste, as it is too abrasive and may cause scratches. Instead, use a denture cream and rinse thoroughly with cold water.
Regularly check your dentures for signs of wear, such as worn-down teeth. Since your mouth continuously changes, routine checkups are essential to maintaining a proper fit. Be sure to visit Drayton Valley Denture Clinic as part of your scheduled maintenance plan.
Talk to your denturist about which medications are safe to take, as some can impact the fit and comfort of your dentures. Never try to adjust your dentures yourself—only a denturist or dental professional has the expertise to assess your oral health and properly modify your complete or partial dentures.
Most dental insurance policies will pay for a new denture every five years.
Taking care of your dentures is important because worn and stained dentures not only cause you to look older, but do not function properly
